NOTE: THIS GUIDE FOCUSES MAINLY ON CLASSES WHO CAN POLE
well in a game where population is decreasing each time more (or maybe people getting to high level faster and less chances for newbies to get that high) this is a good system to "Duo" with yourself.
what you need:
*2 Accounts (obviously XD)
*a Fighter class character, suggested someone who can use a pole
*a HEALER class character, i suggest a Shillien Oracle, though i hear a human cleric works too.
-suggested 2 PCs or 2 screens (i use laptop, and desk PC)
now you HAVE to spend 1 or 2 days leveling up to 20 and doing your first class change on EACH of your chars (check my guide to fast leveling :P can help you get up to 20 in less than a day)
For Melee: Try to master ONLY Weapon Masteries and Armor Masteries first, then go for your special weapon abilities (Example; Weapon mastery before 20, Pole mastery if you have access at 20 if not go directly to HEAVY ARMOR Mastery and then special weapon abilities, this may save you with a 1 hand weapon sometimes if you dont have pole abilities, like Dark elves)
For Mage: (note: I'm posting about Shillien oracle, since its the only healer class i have played) go first for buffs like Might, Focus (i suggest resurrection at 30 where you get Lv.2 that recovers 20% of the lost exp when dying) then MP Boosts and then Healing Magic (i like Battle heal, gets higher than Heal at early levels and goes almost instantly, but spends a lot of MP) and if you got some SPs left you can go for stuff like sleep (leave nukes at the end)
about equipment, if you can get brigandine armor that does very good, though Half Plate is the best.
also if you dont want to spend and got a clan ask for help with Clan oath armor, quest doesnt takes so long.
Weapon you can get the Shadow weapon; Warpick (but there will be a point around 35 where you just wont have enough picks to keep leveling this way)
if you can get a glaive do it (also if you can get it already enchanted BETTER)
now sign up for the priest of dawn for seven signs to get access to catacombs and necropolises.
------------DUAL BOXING BASICS--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all you will need to invite yourself to party, easily just type /invite (name of your alt) and then accept invite with your alt.
then you will see your alt name below your main name (and on other screen will see like that the char you're on above and your other char below).
basic controls:
1 Click on the char name below yours = select the chosen char
double click on that name = set Auto-Follow on that char
right click on that name = Assist party member by selecting the enemy he is selecting
double right click = Attack the same target
as you may know so far you can put your abilities in small boxes as shortcuts (with F1, F2, F2 can execute them) if you click the icon with 2 arrows up you will get another line, to easily access that line just use CTRL + (number of the "F" its on) for example
CTRL + 1 = doing the action set on 2nd line for F1, i doubt you will get to use more than 2 lines this way so just explaining the basic.
------------------LEVELING---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEVER FORGET STARTER BUFFS;
VAMPIRIC RAGE IS THE KEY FOR THIS TO WORK OR YOU WILL DIE A LOT
now leveling, head to the necropolis of sacrifice, you will start getting to a big room with:
2 Giants
2 Liths
2 Skeletons
2 Undeads
before starting buff yourself (Might, Focus at the beggining)
now put your mage in a safe area.
with your melee
you can aggro the skeletons, usually that aggro all giant and liths near, but if dont aggro those may have to hit them, pull them to a corner and then start killing them (if you got a Pole ability like sweep open with it) after a couple hits if you start to run danger your mage alt can start healing you without getting much aggro, just be sure to keep changing targets when they die so you can hit and keep recovering HP.
i have seen both life cubics will recover your HP, so in a way you will be safe.
I also suggest bringing some Healing potions for emergencies.
Spamming DSS is the KEY for fast killing
NOTE *(this is where artisan dwarves are godly, you can make them at a cost of around 8.7-10A per DSS, also when not leveling or doing something else on your alt or irl you can leave dwarf selling DSS for 11 - 12 A and make decent profit, people will usually buy 5k-10k) but well you select you race and your class :P just a nice side-note.
Never forget Scrolls of Escape, each hour you will have to use one to get starter buffs again.
Past Lv.35 you start losing some Starter buffs making this harder, so will have to work more with the Healer, at least you get Vampiric rage (wich you lose at 38)
i dont have experience at Lv.40 on this system, but i got 20-26 in just a few hours, then was getting a level and half per hour (so may get 20-30 in a day maybe)
at Lv.30 your mage gets vampiric rage, so maybe if you're around 10% or less away from leveling and buffs are gone can use it and just kill a lil slower til you get level.
-------------------------------LEVELING PLACES--------------------------------------------------
Lv.20 - 30 Necropolis of sacrifice
Lv.30 - 40 Catacomb of the Heretic OR Pilgrims Necropolis (personally i like more the pilgrims since its less populated than catacomb)
you can also try The ant incubator cave (southern part of wasteland) around 36, i havent tried doing a train there maybe, when hitting a larva it will grow into a big ant unless it stays as small larva, some like to evolve (when they evolve to Noble cave ant they become really hard but give 11k - 12k exp)
dont forget to keep healing yourself with your alt and keep your alt in a safe place so can rest for MP while pulling.
